Privacy and cookies
Last updated: November 2026. Release Sonar is made by nubuza. Contact: me@nubuza.com.
The short version
- No account, no sign-up, no cookies of our own, no tracking.
- Only the names of your folders and files are read, never their contents.
- Your library, matches and settings are stored encrypted in your browser (IndexedDB). We have no server that stores them.
What is sent and to whom
- MusicBrainz (MetaBrainz Foundation): artist names and MusicBrainz identifiers, to find artists and their releases. Your browser connects to musicbrainz.org directly, so they see your IP address. See the MetaBrainz privacy policy.
- Cover Art Archive / Internet Archive: album covers are loaded from coverartarchive.org and archive.org, which see your IP address and which cover was requested.
- Ticketmaster (Live Nation): only if you use Concerts, the point you chose (a city, or your location rounded to about 1 km) and the radius, once a day, to list music events nearby. Your artists are never sent: they are matched in your browser. See the Ticketmaster privacy policy.
- Open-Meteo: the city name you type in Concerts, to find where it is.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and provides Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
- Google Drive, only if you turn on sync in Settings: the app asks Google for access to its own hidden
folder in your Drive (the
drive.appdatapermission; it cannot see your other files) and stores there one file, encrypted on your device with a sync code that only your devices know. Google cannot read it, and neither can we. The access token stays in your browser's memory. Release Sonar's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect in Settings and remove the app's access in your Google account. - Google AdSense, when ads are shown, may use cookies and similar technologies. In the EU, EEA and UK you are asked for consent through Google's consent message, and you can change your choice at any time from the "Privacy and cookies" link in the footer. See how Google uses data from partner sites.
Your data, your control
You can download all your data as a file, restore it, or delete everything from this browser in Settings. Clearing your browser's site data deletes it as well. As we do not hold your data, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side.
